USA’s Top 25: A Guide to America’s Hidden Gems
Using my years of exploration, I’ve compiled a list of my top 25 favorite places in the country. Our journey includes the stunning beaches of Hawaii, the surreal sand formations of the Utah desert, the grand skyscrapers of New York, and many others. Each region and state have unique offerings that are sure to spellbind you.
Lake Tahoe
Firstly, there’s Lake Tahoe, nestled on the border of Nevada and California. It sprawls over 1600 feet deep, making it the second deepest lake in America. The pristine blue water against the backdrop of smooth granite rocks makes for a sight like no other. Sand Harbor Beach, with its crystal clear water and litter of Tahoe rocks, makes for an excellent spot for a swim or paddleboarding adventure.
Yosemite National Park
Next, let’s travel to Yosemite National Park. This hub of biodiversity boasts of giant granite cliffs, clear streams, and powerful waterfalls. Must-visit spots include the ‘Half Dome’, a gigantic piece of granite rising over 5000 feet above the valley, and the mesmerizing Yosemite falls.
The Coastal Charm: Big Sur and the California Redwoods
Venture over to the coast and you will find yourself at Big Sur, home to some of the most remarkable coastal views in the country. Bixby Creek Bridge and Mickway Falls are must-see attractions here.
Not far from Big Sur are the grand California Redwoods, the tallest trees in the world. A walk in the groves of towering Redwoods feels magical, with fern-covered ground and a canopy that seems to touch the sky.
Invigorating Utah and Wyoming
Get ready to experience the mighty volcanoes and countless waterfalls of Oregon, my personal favorite. Further up north in Seattle, the brew of city skyline and natural vistas like Mount Rainier makes for a unique experience.
Move up north to visit the rugged wilderness of Alaska and witness the stunning glaciers and the enchanting aurora borealis. And if you’re thirsty for more natural beauty, the islands of Hawaii with their adventurous offerings and the stunning coastlines are an absolute delight.
The Bustling City Scapes: New York City and Boston
From Hawaii, let’s traverse towards the continental U.S and land in the lively streets of New York City. Spend a day at the Brooklyn Bridge with the magnificent cityscape surrounding you or hang out at Times Square and witness city life at its fullest.
Continue your journey and head over to the region of New England, where history and nature converge. Cities like Boston, with its historical charm, and picturesque states like Vermont and Maine will add diversity to your American adventure.
The Tropical Touch: Florida Keys and the Southern Charm of Idaho
Escape to the south and find your tropical haven at the Florida Keys. Enjoy the American version of the Bahamas, with the islands connected by a road, making it a wondrous driving experience. In Idaho, enjoy the magnificent Saint Anthony Sand Dunes- a thrilling escape to a desert oasis.
Into the Wild: Wyoming’s Yellowstone State Park
Next, let’s head over to Wyoming to visit the magical Yellowstone National Park. From the grand prismatic spring to old faithful geyser, Mammoth Springs to Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming will supply your fill of natural wonders.
The Desert Delight: Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats and Shiprock, New Mexico
Heading southward to Utah, the Bonneville Salt Flats, one of the most extraordinary landscapes in the world greets you. The glittering white salt against the mountain backdrop is indeed a sight to remember. Passing onwards to New Mexico, you will chance upon Shiprock, a unique and fascinating rock structure that will capture your heart.
Water and Sand: Lake Powell and Zion National Park
As the list draws to close, Lake Powell in Utah stands out as one of the most striking sites. Imagine the grandeur of the Grand Canyon filled with shimmering blue water and remember to check out the nearby Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon.
